A large delegation of Ngizim indigenous farmers, businessmen, and community stakeholders from Potiskum Local Government Area has pledged their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, mni, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The delegation, led by the APC Zonal Vice Chairman for Yobe South, Alhaji Mohammed Inusa, paid a courtesy visit to Wali at his residence in Damaturu, where members expressed their commitment to reconciliation, unity, and renewed engagement with the political leadership of the state.

The delegation included prominent figures such as Alhaji Mamman Fara Fara, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Garin Daye, Alhaji Babale Jaji, Alhaji Al-Hassan Makwai, Alhaji Mohammed Idriss Inchinai, Alhaji Musa Alaska, Alhaji Auduwa, Alhaji Yusuf Mai Shinkafa, Alhaji Muhammad Yonusa, Alhaji Hassan Muhammad Garin Daye, and Alhaji Muhammad Haruna, among others.

Speaking during the visit, Alhaji Inusa said the Ngizim people, who are actively engaged in farming, commerce, and entrepreneurship, have remained committed to the progressive cause but had experienced a period of limited engagement with government.

He noted that past misunderstandings had created a gap between the community and the government, adding that the delegation had decided to close that gap and open a new chapter of brotherhood, reconciliation, and mutual trust.

“This visit is a bridge a bridge of peace and a bridge of unity. We have come to say that Ngizim is APC and APC is Ngizim. We want to put the past behind us and work together for the greatness of Yobe State,” he said.

Inusa also appealed for greater inclusion of the Ngizim people in the political affairs and future appointments of the state. “We are not asking government to remove anyone from his seat. All we are saying is, remember us in the future. Consider our sons and daughters in future elections and appointments. We have capable hands who can contribute to the development of Yobe,” he said.

He attributed the community’s support for Wali to what he described as the candidate’s open-door policy, humility, willingness to listen, and reputation for bringing people together.

According to him, the community believes that Wali’s emergence as governor would provide an opportunity for broader political inclusion and greater engagement with communities across the state.

The APC chieftain also pledged the mobilisation of the Ngizim community for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, and other APC candidates contesting the National and State Assembly elections in 2027.

Responding, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit and commended the Ngizim community for what he described as its courage, maturity, and commitment to dialogue.

He described the Ngizim people as hardworking, peaceful, and enterprising, noting their significant contributions to the economy of Yobe South.

“Potiskum is the commercial heartbeat of Yobe. Without Ngizim farmers and businessmen, Yobe’s economy cannot beat. You are builders, you are creators of wealth, you are our pride,” Wali said.

He assured the delegation that their concerns had been heard and would receive due attention, stressing that governance should be based on inclusion, justice, and equal opportunity for all citizens.

Wali said his vision was to build a united Yobe where no community feels left behind, adding that every group should have an opportunity to contribute to the development of the state.

“I want to be a Governor for all, everyone who calls Yobe home. Our diversity is our strength,” he said.

He also urged the delegation to return to their communities and mobilise eligible voters to register, collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and participate in the 2027 elections.

The meeting ended with prayers and expressions of renewed unity and solidarity, as the delegation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the APC and its candidates in the 2027 elections.
