In a decisive move to consolidate peace and guarantee democratic stability, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has convened a high-powered security summit with the state's top military and police commanders.

The closed-door session focused on a comprehensive review of the security landscape to ensure a hitch-free and credible electoral process for the upcoming local government and general elections.

Briefing journalists on the outcome of the strategic parley in Damaturu, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Security Matters, retired Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam, described the meeting as a proactive blueprint to fortify the state's defenses.

He highlighted the Buni administration's unwavering resolve to prioritize the safety of lives and property, issuing a stern warning that the government will maintain zero tolerance for any acts of thuggery or disruption aimed at derailing the democratic process.

"The relative peace we enjoy will not be sacrificed on the altar of political violence. This administration is fully committed to ensuring that every law-abiding citizen can exercise their franchise without fear," Brig. Gen. Abdulsalam stated.

While acknowledging recent isolated incidents in Dapchi, Gaidam, and Buni Yadi, the security adviser noted that these events have only galvanized the government into action.

He revealed that the state's security architecture is currently undergoing a robust revision to neutralize emerging threats, assuring the public that the overall situation across Yobe remains stable, calm, and commendable.

In a significant highlight that underscores the deepening synergy between the civil authorities and the military, Brig. Gen. Abdulsalam also showcased the dividends of military-civil cooperation.

He announced that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, have executed impactful infrastructural projects across the state.

These include the total renovation of Sabon Gari School in Potiskum, the construction of four solar-powered boreholes, and the establishment of a modern pediatric centre at the state's specialist hospital gestures that reflect the armed forces' commitment to social responsibility beyond the battlefield.

As the state prepares for the crucial electoral tests, the security adviser called on the good people of Yobe to view security as a collective burden. He urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement, and promptly report any suspicious movements to the authorities.

Concluding his address, the retired General lauded the gallantry, dedication, and professionalism of the security agencies, expressing confidence that with continued synergy between the government, military, and citizens, Yobe State will sustain its trajectory of peace and democratic growth.
