As political calculations for the 2027 general election begin to take shape, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Yobe State, Baba Mallam Wali, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's bid for a second term, describing it as vital for the nation's continued progress.

Wali, who is on a statewide consultation tour of traditional councils, made the call over the weekend at Jajere and Ngelzarma Emirates.

The tour has so far covered 13 of Yobe's 14 emirates, highlighted what he described as a grassroots-driven campaign to build consensus around the President's re-election.

Speaking to traditional leaders and community stakeholders, Wali explained, the Tinubu administration has laid a credible track record in critical sectors such as infrastructure, economic revitalization, security, and social welfare.

He contended that a second term would provide the necessary timeline to bring ongoing reforms to fruition.

"Mr. President has shown clear performance, and we have taken that message to the people.

"We believe that continuity is not just desirable it is essential. Disrupting the current trajectory would mean abandoning projects and policies that are already yielding results for ordinary Nigerians",said Wali.

The APC candidate emphasized that his engagements with traditional institutions have been met with robust enthusiasm, noting that the reception across the emirates has been extraordinary.

He praised the royal fathers for their unwavering commitment to community peace, conflict resolution, and support for government initiatives aimed at tackling insecurity and underdevelopment.

"The traditional institution remains the backbone of our society. Their guidance and blessings are invaluable, not just for elections, but for sustainable governance," he added.

Speaking at their respective palaces, the Emir of Ngelzarma, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammad Mai Yari Ibn Isa III, and the Emir of Jajere, His Royal Highness, Dr. Mai Hamza Buba Ibn Isa Mashio, commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for the developmental projects executed across the state.

The traditional rulers assured the APC governorship candidate of their prayers and divine guidance.

In a significant development, the Emir of Jajere conferred the traditional title of Sardaunan Jajere on the APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, during the visit.
