A devastating fire outbreak has claimed the lives of four members of a single family in Rugar Audu Badali Fulani Community, Karasuwa Local Government Area, with the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) leading urgent response efforts.
The tragic incident occurred on Friday, August 21, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., when fire completely engulfed the community, leaving survivors homeless and in profound distress.
The deceased have been identified as members of Mallam Bukar's family, his wife Bilkisu and their three children Zainab, Hafsat, and Salamatu. All four victims were interred in accordance with Islamic rites.
Yobe SEMA immediately mobilised a joint assessment and condolence mission, working in collaboration with representatives of the Karasuwa Local Government Authority and community stakeholders.
The agency-led team conducted a thorough on site evaluation, documenting the total destruction of residential structures and household belongings.
During the visit, officials engaged directly with the bereaved family and other residents to assess immediate needs and psychosocial conditions.
The Yobe SEMA team, alongside Karasuwa LGA leadership and community stakeholders, conveyed profound condolences to Mallam Bukar and his surviving relatives.
The assessment confirmed urgent needs for emergency relief support,temporary shelter and psychosocial assistance for displaced survivors
Yobe SEMA reaffirmed its commitment to coordinating timely humanitarian interventions and mobilising necessary resources to alleviate the suffering of those affected.
The Agency has appealed for collective efforts to prevent the recurrence of such tragic incidents across communities in the state.
