In a significant move to safeguard agricultural harmony and ensure a peaceful harvest season, the President of the Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN), Hon. Khalil Mohammad Bello, convened a high-stakes meeting with representatives from all 17 local government areas of Yobe State in the state capital, Damaturu.
The gathering brought together a broad coalition of stakeholders, including diverse security agencies, Kulen Allah affiliates, local government units, government officials, and national representatives.
The meeting marks a critical step in the Association’s proactive strategy to prevent farmer-herder conflicts during the critical wet season.
Addressing journalists, Hon. Bello outlined the core objectives of the meeting, emphasizing a comprehensive assessment of ongoing awareness campaigns across the state.
He explained that this annual practice is a time-honored Yobe State custom, designed to preemptively address issues before they escalate.
"Whenever the wet season begins, from the very outset when farmers begin land preparation, we at KACRAN actively engage and participate to ensure all vital precautions are implemented from the start.This prevents issues during planting or harvest,'Said Hon Bello.
According to him,currently,the Association is conducting a door-to-door, administration by administration awareness drive to promote peace and understanding.
He noted,the campaign also serves a dual purpose that encouraging members to complete their online enrollment and retain their Voter IDs in preparation for the 2027 elections.
In a reassuring update, Hon. Bello noted that despite the ongoing efforts, no substantial disputes have emerged that pose a threat to Yobe State’s safety.
"Based on our contact with our people, we estimate we are halfway through the growing period, and presently, there haven't been significant incidents.
" We are committed to preventing any major unrest from disturbing the peace and security of Yobe State from now until the season's close," he added.
The KACRAN President extended his profound gratitude to key partners facilitating the initiative, including the Yobe State Government, the North East Development Commission (NEDC), the L-Press, customary councils, local leaders, and security personnel.
He praised their consistent collaboration in fostering concord and positive connections between herders, farmers, and the broader populace.
"We deeply value the support from the Yobe State Government and our security agencies.They work tirelessly to ensure peace and harmony across the state,"He added.
The meeting highlighteds a collective commitment to maintaining Yobe State as a model of peaceful coexistence, with KACRAN at the forefront of championing dialogue and mutual respect between all communities.
