Troops Arrest Five Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Arms in Yobe

Troops from Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside the Yobe State Hunters Group, have arrested five suspected kidnappers and recovered a cache of weapons during a raid in Yobe State, the military announced on Friday.

The operation, conducted on July 23, 2026, targeted a criminal hideout in Jegalari Village, located within Fune Local Government Area. Military officials stated that the raid was based on credible intelligence regarding the suspects' activities.

According to a statement by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, troops from the 233 Battalion stationed at Damaturu Military Cantonment executed the mission.

Recovered items during the operation included three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, a locally made pistol, assorted ammunition, and four mobile phones.

The suspects are currently in military custody as investigations continue into their alleged involvement in kidnapping and other related crimes.

Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations to deny criminal elements freedom of action in the North East. The military has urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
