The Yobe State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally welcomed a prominent academic, Prof. Mohammed Jawa, along with thousands of his supporters, into its fold following their defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The mass decampment was officially received by the party’s State Working Committee, led by Deputy Chairman Alhaji Mohammed Alamai Baba Kankare (Wazirin Gazargamu), who represented the State Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, during the event.
Explaining his return, Prof. Jawa cited Governor Mai Mala Buni’s exemplary governance, developmental strides, and all-inclusive administration as his primary motivation. A former APC stalwart who had briefly pursued another political path, Jawa emphasized that Buni’s commitment to fairness and unity had convinced him and his followers to rejoin the ruling party. He pledged unwavering loyalty and assured the leadership of his movement’s full support in advancing Yobe State’s progress.
In his remarks, Deputy Chairman Kankare described the influx as a major victory that significantly boosts the APC’s strength and cohesion in Yobe. He guaranteed that both new and returning members would enjoy equal rights, fair treatment, and ample opportunities to contribute to party activities and state development.
The Deputy Chairman further urged all party faithful to close ranks and foster unity under the Buni administration, stressing that sustained growth hinges on discipline, mutual respect, and a shared vision. He called on members to consolidate the government’s achievements and cement the APC’s dominance in the state.
The massive return of Prof. Jawa and his supporters is anticipated to fortify the APC’s grassroots network, advancing the party’s agenda of greater inclusion and political consolidation across Yobe State.
