Leaders Throw Weight Behind Atiku Abubakar Ahead of Primary Election
By Yusuf A Yusuf Damaturu
Critical stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Yobe State have unanimously endorsed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The endorsement was announced Saturday in Damaturu following statewide consultations ahead of the ADC’s presidential primary, scheduled for May 25-26, 2026.
In a resolution signed by key party leader including Adamu Maina Waziri,(State Party Leader), Alhaji Umar Kalli (State Party Chairman),and gubernatorial candidate Kassim Gana Gaidam on behalf of all ADC candidates the group cited Atiku’s proven track record, national political spread, and governance experience as decisive factors.
The stakeholders described the former Vice President as “the most unifying and electable candidate” capable of addressing Nigeria’s socio-economic and security challenges.
They also positioned his candidacy as essential to defeating an incumbent they accused of “intolerance and the state capture of public institutions.”
The Yobe chapter called on ADC members nationwide to rally behind Atiku Abubakar ahead of the party’s primary later this month.
