'People See Change Coming From Me'- Tumsah Declares as Yobe APC Primaries Loom
Barrister Kashim Musa Tumsah, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, declared that ,the people of Yobe are clamoring for a genuine shift from the status quo, and he is the candidate best positioned to lead that transformation.
Speaking to journalists in Damaturu while en route to a wedding ceremony for the children of the Emir of Bade, Tumsah expressed confidence in the growing grassroots support for his ambition.
“The people of Yobe need a desired change. That desire is an indication that they want a new direction, and they see that change coming from me.
"They are willing to give me the support to provide the leadership that will deliver the successful change they seek. By Almighty Allah’s grace, we shall not disappoint them,"Said Tumsah.
He assured residents of the state to expect a departure from the “usual” style of governance, promising that better days are ahead. “Good things are coming. They should expect something different, and hopefully, by Allah’s grace, everything will go well,” he added, urging the populace to remain steadfast and collectively push for the change they desire to move Yobe forward in the interest of all.
Addressing speculation about the APC’s primary election process, Tumsah dismissed fears that the exercise might not hold.He noted that the party has yet to release an official, authentic statement specifying whether the primaries would be direct or indirect.
"I have not seen anything otherwise. If everything moves smoothly with free and fair primaries, disregarding all the rumors we have been hearing, we will proceed.
"So far, the APC has not come out with any authentic statement on what type of primaries to be conducted, so I don’t think there are any signs that indicate there would be no primaries,” he stated.
Tumsah also addressed overtures from opposition parties, revealing that while he has received multiple invitations to defect, only the Social Democratic Party (SDP) was bold enough to publicly seek his candidacy. However, he reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the APC.
“I am an APC man, true and true. I have had a lot of invitations from other parties. They have done it in secret, but I think the SDP was brave enough to come out and seek for me to contest under their platform. But I have not given it a thought.
"My intention is to contest under the APC, and that is what I want to do. I want to see it through. We hope for free and fair primaries, and we go for it,"Tumsah emphasized.
