KACRAN Rejects Militarization, Proposes Dialogue to End North-West, North-Central Insecurity

The Kulen Allah Vitality Self-Reliance Association (KACRAN) has condemned the escalating violence in Nigeria's North-West and North-Central regions, urging Northern leaders and the Federal Government to prioritise diplomatic dialogue over military solutions.

In a statement released in Damaturu, National President Khalil Moh'd Bello expressed disgust at the continued killings, kidnappings, and livestock rustling by bandits and criminal elements.

"Beyond the human toll, the destruction of property and the rustling of millions of livestock have decimated the livelihoods of our people, threatening the economic foundation of the North," Bello said.

While acknowledging efforts by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, NSA Nuhu Ribadu, and security chiefs, KACRAN expressed concern that despite over N5 trillion allocated in the 2026 Defence Budget, insecurity persists.

KACRAN proposed a three-pillar diplomatic framework to includes;northern governors, lawmakers, traditional and religious leaders must collaborate to address root causes of instability and Internal conflicts are not resolved by bullets alone but through mutual respect and trust and Peace would free resources for youth employment, infrastructure,and agricultural development

"Peace and security in the North is the bedrock for peace in Nigeria," Bello stated. "If Northern leaders commit sincerely to peace and receive necessary federal support, they possess the local capacity to end this ugly trend."

KACRAN demanded that bandits cease attacks on innocent citizens immediately, warning against repeating the tragic trajectories of Libya, Sudan, and Syria.

The organisation mourned the recent killing of over 200 people in Niger and Kwara States and the abduction of 176 individuals in Kwara, calling for the immediate release of all hostages.

Noting that the North holds key security appointments including NSA and Defence Ministers, KACRAN urged leaders to seize the opportunity to deliver tangible results.
