Yobe APC Chairman Joins Regional Stakeholders for Party Constitution Review in Maiduguri

The Yobe State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Mohammad Gadaka, on Monday joined party stakeholders from across the North-East geo-political zone for a crucial public hearing on the party’s constitutional review. The event was held at the Borno State Hotel in Maiduguri.

The constitutional review initiative aims to broaden the political space by ensuring equitable representation for all party members, with particular emphasis on women, youth, and persons with disabilities.

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, who chairs the APC North-East Constitutional Review Committee, highlighted the hearing's role in promoting accountability and transparency. 

He stated that these principles should extend beyond party administration and finances to encompass general leadership and governance. 

Represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, Governor Buni also urged stakeholders and members across the region to actively participate in the ongoing APC membership e-registration exercise in their respective states.

The APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, represented by the National Deputy Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, conveyed that the review was initiated on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. 

"The objective is to critically examine the party’s structure to make it more inclusive, accommodate diverse interests, and ensure the equitable use of power for the benefit of the majority."

Other dignitaries echoed the focus on inclusivity and structural reform. Representatives of the Borno State Governor, the APC National Legal Adviser (who also serves as Secretary of the Constitutional Review Committee for the North-East), and the National Deputy Women Leader all emphasized that the review seeks to streamline internal processes, improve candidate selection, and significantly boost representation for women and youth groups described as the driving force and future of the APC.

During the session, delegations from each of the six North-East states, alongside the National Deputy Women Leader and other key stakeholders, formally presented their memoranda for detailed consideration by the review committee.
