National Quranic Recitation Day:Gov. Buni Urges National Unity,Prayer for Lasting Peace

At the inaugural National Qur’an Recitation Day, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has emphasized prayer, unity, and shared responsibility as foundational pillars for ensuring peace and stability throughout Nigeria.

The special event, which included prayers for peace in Yobe State and the nation, was held in the state capital of Damaturu and attracted memorizers of the Holy Qur’an from across the country.

Speaking through his representative, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education Dr. Abba Adam Idriss,Governor Buni hailed the gathering as a historic congregation. 

He noted that memorizers from every region of Nigeria had united with a common goal, to seek divine intervention for tranquility and stability, especially within Yobe State.

"This assembly goes beyond prayer,It is a call for every individual here to actively participate in building our nation and fostering peaceful coexistence among all citizens,"Gov.Buni stated.

Ustaz Babagana Mallam Kyari, the Yobe State Coordinator for the National Qur’anic Recitation and Senior Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, welcomed the participants. 

He reported that approximately 56 groups of Qur’an memorizers had traveled to Damaturu for the sole purpose of praying for enduring peace.

Ustaz Kyari praised Governor Buni’s sustained commitment to social harmony, highlighting policies designed to support vulnerable groups like orphans and widows. 

"In facing our societal challenges,seeking Allah’s guidance remains our most assured path to solutions,"said Ustaz Kyari

He also called on the public to consistently include their leaders at every level of government in their prayers.

The ceremony concluded with an awards presentation by the National Qur’anic Recitation Body to Governor Mai Mala Buni, the Secretary to the Yobe State Government, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, and Ustaz Babagana Mallam Kyari were each honored for their significant roles in advancing Qur’anic and Tsangaya education within the state and nationally.
