Federal University Gashua Appoints Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam as New Vice-Chancellor





The Governing Council of the Federal University Gashua (FUGASHUA) has announced the appointment of Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam as the institution's new Vice-Chancellor. 

In a statement by Mallam Adamu Saleh Deputy Director & Head, Information and Protocol Unit Federal University Gashua explained,the decision follows a comprehensive and competitive selection process concluded at the Council's statutory meeting.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Barrister Ibrahim Usman, stated the appointment was made in strict compliance with the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act and relevant regulations.

He emphasized that the process was "rigorous and merit-driven," focusing on candidates' academic excellence, leadership capacity, administrative competence, integrity, and vision for the university's future.

"Professor Geidam's appointment reflects the Governing Council’s commitment to due process and its resolve to position the University for sustained growth and global relevance," Barrister Usman stated.

The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor is a distinguished scholar and administrator. A Professor of Veterinary Medicine with over two decades of experience, he joins FUGASHUA from the University of Maiduguri, where he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Professor Geidam has held several key administrative roles and boasts an extensive record of scholarly publications in national and international journals.

Described as an inclusive, visionary, and results-oriented leader, Professor Geidam is expected to steer the university towards strengthening its core mandates of teaching, research, and community service.

In his announcement, Barrister Usman congratulated Professor Geidam on his "well-deserved appointment" and called on the university's staff, students, alumni, and all stakeholders to offer their full cooperation and support to the new leadership.
