Damaturu Mega Motor Park at Nears Completion, Set for March Opening
The newly constructed Damaturu Mega Motor Park, one of the largest of its kind in Nigeria, is nearing completion and is scheduled to become fully operational by the end of March.
This was revealed by the General Project Coordinator, Engineer Mohammed Abba Hassan, during a briefing with journalists in Damaturu on Wednesday.
According to Engineer Hassan, the park boasts a massive capacity for approximately 500 vehicles and includes a driver’s lodge that can accommodate up to 150 drivers at a time.
He stated that,the facility is designed to be comprehensive, featuring a terminal building, a police outpost, a clinic, a restaurant, and several other passenger amenities.
"The project was awarded to Samusi Construction Nigeria Limited by the Yobe State Government and started about six months ago. We have reached almost 85 percent completion," Hassan explained.
He further stated, "We expect to complete the project within the stipulated contract period. In shallah, by the end of March, this project will be fully completed."
Highlighting the park's extensive facilities, the Project Coordinator noted it is equipped with nearly every required service, including accommodations for travellers, ample lodging for drivers, shop complexes, a fire service, and a comprehensive health clinic intended to serve not only park users but also the surrounding community.
The Damaturu Mega Motor Park represents a significant upgrade in transport infrastructure for the region and is expected to centralise and modernise interstate travel services while providing substantial economic and social benefits to the area.
