Yobe Govt Begins 5-Day Capacity Building Training for HR Directors,Senior Civil Servants

Yobe State Government has inaugurated a five-day capacity building workshop for civil servants. 

The training is designed to bolster professionalism and improve service delivery across all state ministries and agencies.

The workshop was declared open by the Permanent Secretary for Manpower Development, Alh. Abas Isa Bizi, who represented the Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu. 

In his remarks, Alh. Shehu reaffirmed Governor Mai Mala Buni’s unwavering commitment to human capital development as a cornerstone of the administration’s reforms.

The Head of Service outlined the Governor’s ongoing initiatives to motivate the workforce, including prompt payment of salaries, housing schemes, furniture allowances, and the distribution of relief materials. 

He also highlighted the administration’s efforts in ensuring timely pension payments and clearing backlogged gratuity arrears for retirees.

Further detailing the government’s long-term strategy, Alh. Shehu pointed to the introduction of a structured succession plan and a training guide, supported by a dedicated focal person. 

This, he stated, is part of a vision to build a modern, accountable, and transparent civil service.

“The large-scale recruitment of new personnel and expanded local and international training opportunities were cited as part of the government’s broader strategy to reposition the civil service,” he added.

In a welcome address, the Lead Consultant from Ventures Consultancy Nigeria Limited, Malam Abdulrazaq Ibrahim, commended Governor Buni for his “visionary leadership” and consistent support for capacity development within the civil service.

Participants at the event were urged to maximize the learning opportunity and actively apply the acquired knowledge to drive tangible improvements in public service delivery. 

The workshop marks a significant step in Yobe State's comprehensive plan to build a more responsive and effective government workforce.
