Yobe Flags Off Phase 1 of Human Capital Development and Demographic Dividend (HCD-DD) Programme Across Seven LGAs

The Yobe State Government, with support from the Lafiya UK programme, has officially inaugurated Phase 1 of the Human Capital Development and Demographic Dividend (HCD-DD) programme.

This initiative marks a significant step toward improving health, education, skills development, and community empowerment across the state. 

The launch, held at a high-level gathering of government stakeholders and development partners, brought together key officials from the seven participating Local Government Areas of Damaturu, Gujba, Tarmuwa, Fune, Potiskum, Nguru, and Yusufari.

The State HCD-DD Focal Person, Alh. Usman Bura, who delivered the opening remarks, described the event as "a historic gathering and the beginning of a collaborative journey that aligns national priorities with Yobe State’s unique aspirations."

He emphasized three core objectives of the HCD-DD rollout,is to introduce the national and state HCD-DD concepts to ensure stakeholders fully understand the vision and implementation strategy, localize the initiative to suit the cultural and socioeconomic realities of each LGA and to lay firm foundations for long-term human capital growth that will translate into a demographic dividend for the state.

Alh. Usman called for collaboration, commitment,and active participation, stressing that the programme's success depends on collective action across all levels.

During the inauguration,the programme consultant for the Lafiya-UK programme, Musa, outlined the roadmap for implementation and its strategies.

Stakeholders present included Vice Chairmen of the seven LGAs, Heads of Administration, Education Secretaries, Primary Healthcare Coordinators, Heads of Agriculture & Natural Resources, and representatives of development partners such as Lafiya-UK, the National Population Commission, the Yobe State House of Assembly, CSOs, and HCD-DD technical teams.

With the formal inauguration completed,Yobe State now moves into full implementation mode as stakeholders prepare to roll out activities aimed at strengthening human capital and enhancing opportunities for citizens across the seven LGAs.
