Peter Obi's Obedient Movement Sets Up Structure in Yobe, Eyes 2027

The Obedient Movement officially inaugurated its Yobe State and Local Government Area executives on Thursday in Damaturu, while also unveiling candidates who will contest future elections under its banner.

Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the Global Coordinator of the movement, represented its leader, Mr. Peter Obi. Dr. Tanko began his address by conveying Mr. Obi's condolences to the people of Borno and Yobe states following recent tragic events, including the killing of over 60 people in Maiduguri. He stated that Obi believes such losses deeply impact the nation's democracy.

"The second reason for my visit is to inaugurate the leadership of Mr. Zanna Ali Haruna as the new Yobe State Coordinator and his team," Dr. Tanko said. He emphasized the movement's goal to identify candidates who embody its principles of "equity, freedom, and justice."

He outlined Peter Obi's commitment to transforming Nigeria from a consumption-based to a production-based economy, with a special focus on revamping the north's agricultural potential to feed the nation and continent.

In his remarks, the Yobe State Labour Party Chairman, Ahmed Bukar Kolo, urged youths to register for their voter cards and actively seek change.

In his inaugural speech, the newly inaugurated State Coordinator, Zanna Ali Haruna, stated that the movement is open to collaboration, partnership, and political engagement to ensure that Yobe State is secured and positioned for excellence by 2027.

"The task ahead is substantial, heavy, and highly robust. I encourage each and every one of us on the advisory team and in the directorate to ensure that we do our jobs effectively," he added.
