Mega School Celebrates Excellence at Second Annual Speech and Prize-Giving Day

The Mega School,damaturu,buzzed with pride and accomplishment as it hosted its second annual Speech and Prize-Giving Day ceremony. 

Held on the school premises within the New Bra-Bra Housing Estate on Saturday, the event brought together the school community and key stakeholders to celebrate academic achievement and commitment to education.

The occasion drew prominent figures from Yobe State's educational sector. Distinguished attendees included representatives of the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education,the Permanent Secretary of the same ministry, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB (State Universal Basic Education Board),the Education Secretary of the Local Government Education Authority, alongside dedicated parents,teachers,and the proud students of Mega School.

In his remarks,the Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, represented by the Damaturu Local Government Education Secretary, Alhaji Makinta Mele, said the Yobe State Government is deeply proud of establishing the Mega schools, recognizing education as its absolute top priority.

"The state government is fully committed to establishing these schools,recognizing education as its highest priority.That's why we are building them across the state," said the Commissioner.

He commended the Mega School Management for organizing the second Annual Speech and Prize-Giving Day ceremony.

The Commissioner also called on parents to actively support education in the state by enrolling their children in school.

Principal Mallam Alhaji Kawu Mustapha set the tone with his welcoming address.He warmly acknowledged the distinguished guests for honoring the event despite their demanding schedules,stating their presence was "a testament to your commitment to education and your support for our school."

Principal Mustapha dedicated significant praise to Governor Mai Mala Buni for his unwavering support and efforts in education, highlighting his administration's transformative commitment.

"Your visionary leadership and investments have been transformative,significant improvements in educational outcomes,directly resulting from initiatives like establishing,Six new Model Schools,Seven Mega Schools (including Mega School Damaturu),New Government Girls' Day Senior Secondary Schools,New co-educational Government Day Senior Secondary Schools", Mustapaha added.

Turning his focus to the core of the school's success, Principal Mustapha paid tribute to the teaching staff.

He expressed deepest gratitude to school teachers, who have worked tirelessly to inspire and guide the students.

"Your passion, expertise,and commitment are the backbone of our school,"said the principal.

He concluded his message with an inspirational note for the students: "Let us remember that education is a journey, not a destination, and every step we take brings us closer to our goals."

In her closing remarks,the Mega School Headmistress,Hajiya Habiba Maikore, expressed her gratitude to the Education Commissioner for his efforts towards quality education in the state.

"As we close this session,I urge parents to guide their children by continuing to practice what they've learned in school,"

the Headmistress said.

The event featured  presentation of prizes to the school's best-performing students,recognizing their hard work and dedication.

The event was further enriched by student speeches and a vibrant display of cultural dances representing various groups, including Hausa, Arabian,Yoruba,Igbo and Kanuri cultures.

Performances by the drama group,and Press Club added to the diverse program, making the day a true celebration of the school's holistic educational environment.
