5 Million Students Have Benefited from NELFUND,Says NANS President




The National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS),Comrade Olushola Oladoja said over 5 million Nigerian students have benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

The NANS President resident made this known on Saturday during the 87th NANS National Senate Inaugural Sitting in Damaturu,Yobe State capital.

The event brought together student leaders and representatives from across the nation to deliberate on crucial matters affecting students and the education sector.

Comrade Oladoja explained that, people can see this growth daily on the dashboard,where the number of students applied for the loan keeps increasing.

According to him,this is because NelFund is accessible to anyone, stressed that all people need is to be a student with a matriculation number.

"When you apply, they send the data to your school to confirm that you are genuinely a student. As soon as your school verifies you as a bona fide student, they will approve your loan.You get the loan;it doesn't matter where you're from or who you are,"said the NANS President Oladoja.

The NANS President further revealed that repayment starts immediately after one graduate,but they include a clause and the federal government ensures people don't start paying until beneficiaries have been working for at least two years.

On his part, the NANS Senate President,Sen. Usman Adamu Nagwaza,appreciated all Senators, stakeholders,and the entire Nigerian Students community and citizenry for their remarkable presence and support during the 87th NANS Inaugural Sitting.

He also commended gratitude to Governor Mai Mala Buni for his remarkable generosity in hosting the historic event in Damaturu, the state capital.

This gathering served as an avenue for robust discussion on addressing the pressing challenges facing Nigerian Students while advancing strategies for the enhancement of their academic and social welfare.
