Yobe Upskills Top Officials with AI Training at BioRTC Workshop
The intensive workshop, held at Damaturu’s Brisk Point Hotel, was part of BioRTC’s 5th Summer School program, designed to empower senior officials with cutting-edge AI tools for improved decision-making and operational efficiency.
Yobe State Governor,Mai Mala Buni represented by the Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa, officially opened the workshop, describing it as a historic step toward modernizing the state’s public service.
"This initiative reflects our commitment to equipping civil servants with the skills needed to thrive in the digital age.
"I commend BioRTC for this forward-thinking program and urge all participants to apply the knowledge gained to enhance service delivery in Yobe State,"Buni stated.
Buni also praised the state government’s focus on innovation and digital transformation, emphasizing its role in driving sustainable development.
The Chief Host and Director of BioRTC, Dr. Mahmud Bukar Maina who also serves as Honorary Special Adviser to the Yobe State Governor on Science, Research, and Innovation, welcomed attendees, noting the significance of bringing together top civil servants to explore AI’s potential in governance.
"We are in the age of AI, and Yobe State must not only recover from past challenges but leap forward by strategically adopting innovation.
"This workshop is a testament to our mission of applying science and technology to real-world governance challenges,"said Dr.Maina.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Buni for his sustained support of scientific research and thanked the Secretary to the State Government’s office for facilitating the Summer School initiative since its inception in 2021.
The workshop featured an internationally recognized AI expert with experience in regulatory frameworks, including the UK, who emphasized AI’s transformative potential in governance.
