Yobe Gov't Partners with PEBEC to Advance Business Reforms

 

The Yobe State Government, partnering with the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), held a technical workshop and town hall meeting on Wednesday to advance the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER).

The event aimed to deepen public understanding of ongoing reforms, strengthen collaboration, and drive initiatives to improve land administration, business registration, investment promotion, procurement, tax systems, and governance transparency.

In his remarks,Yobe State Deputy Governor Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana , who is also Chairman of the Ease of Doing Business Council, said the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council tour has increased understanding of reforms among state officials, the business community, and stakeholders.

Represented by the Yobe State Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa, Gubana revealed the reforms aim to attract massive investment inflows and promote economic growth.

Gubana highlighted the state's commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses, including implementing reforms in land administration and revenue generation.

"The state has established the Ease of Doing Business Council and the Public-Private Partnership and Investment Council to address business-related issues," said the Deputy Governor.

He assured investors that the state government will continue to remove obstacles hindering investment inflow for socio-economic prosperity.

Speaking via Zoom, the Director General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, said PEBEC aims to improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria by removing bureaucratic obstacles and promoting a more business-friendly environment.

She revealed the council's primary goal is to make it easier for businesses to start, operate, and grow in Nigeria.

"PEBEC promotes transparency in government processes and encourages efficiency in service delivery by various government agencies, among other things,"she added.

The workshop drew

stakeholders from the public and private sectors, including state officials,representatives from Local Government Areas (LGAs), the judiciary, and business leaders, praised the state's business-friendly programs, trader support,and urban renewal efforts.

Participants lauded the state's progress in reforms, financial support for traders, and urban renewal efforts.
