NSCDC Kano Command Welcomes NUJ Delegation, Praises Media's Contribution to National Development


The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) hosted a delegation from the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Wednesday in a historic meeting aimed at fostering collaboration.  

State Commandant Shafi’u Abdulmumin welcomed the visiting journalists, describing the engagement as a significant milestone.

He praised the media’s pivotal role in nation-building, stating,"The NUJ’s efforts in promoting national development and peace cannot be overstated." 

Acting NUJ Chairman, Comrade Mustapha Gambo Muhammad, led the delegation and emphasized the purpose of the visit: to strengthen ties between the union and the NSCDC.

He noted that the NUJ, established over 70 years ago, remains a key stakeholder in Nigeria’s progress.  

Comrade Muhammad commended the NSCDC for its contributions to security in Kano and proposed deeper collaboration, suggesting the Corps utilize the NUJ Council Conference Hall for official events.  

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to mutual support in their respective duties, according to a statement by NUJ Secretary Abubakar Shehu Kwaru.
