Gwange PHC Records Over 600 Family Planning Clients in Three Months

Gwange Primary Healthcare Center (PHCC) has attended to more than 600 family planning clients between April and June 2025, according to the facility’s family planning officer, Kulu Tijjani.  

Tijjani disclosed this on Wednesday during an interview with family planning advocate Yusuf A. Yusuf, who visited the center to assess progress and challenges in family planning services.  

She attributed the high turnout to ongoing awareness campaigns conducted by Volunteer Community Members (VCMs) in rural areas.  

"Many couples are now embracing family planning services.Our VCMs have been mobilizing communities to educate people on the importance of child spacing and pregnancy prevention,"Tijjani said.  

However, she highlighted challenges, including a five-month stockout of contraceptives from December 2024 to April 2025.  

"The commodity shortage affected our services.If not for that, we could have reached nearly 1,000 clients by now," she explained.  

Tijjani also noted occasional complaints from clients, such as spotting, heavy bleeding, and other side effects, but assured that the facility provides necessary support and guidance.  

One of the clients, Malama Maryam Sulaiman,shared her experience, saying she has used family planning for 20 years without issues.  

"I started with injections and later switched to tablets.Family planning has helped me space my children and plan my pregnancies better," she said.  

She encouraged other women to adopt family planning for better maternal and child health.
