Gov. Buni Launches Farm Aid for 1,000 Vulnerable Households

Governor Mai Mala Buni kicked off the distribution of vital agricultural inputs to 1,000 vulnerable farming families in Yobe State on Monday. 

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Mai Mala Buni said,the distribution of the agricultural inputs to 1,000 farming households including displaced residents of Malundinari community and their host communities  marks another milestone in the state commitment to building resilience and restoring livelihoods for displaced persons. 

According to Governor Buni,this aligns with Yobe State's Action Plan on Durable Solutions to Internal Displacement.

He further stressed that, Malundinari remains the only ward in the state yet to be resettled.Despite challenges, its people remain resilient, steadfast, and eager to return to their ancestral home.

"The Yobe State Government fully acknowledges the importance of enabling safe, voluntary, and dignified returns for all displaced persons.We are investing in critical infrastructure and basic services to ensure stable and sustainable resettlement. 

"These efforts include road construction, enhanced security, housing development, and improved access to quality healthcare and education  laying the foundation for long-term recovery.

"Through collaboration with UNDP's Regional Stabilization Facility for the Lake Chad region, we're distributing agricultural inputs for 1,000 households.This support covers both rainy and dry farming seasons, timed strategically with the onset of rains,"said Governor Buni 

The distributed items included;improved seeds (sorghum, cowpea, maize, okra, groundnut, millet, rice), NPK fertilizer, liquid fertilizer, insecticides, herbicides, knapsack sprayer, hose, and cutlasses.

Others are; Water pumps, agrochemicals, improved vegetable seeds (onions, tomatoes, cabbage, lettuce, pepper, carrots), hoses, extension tubes, knapsack sprayer, NPK fertilizer, and liquid fertilizer, respectively.

Governor Buni noted that, "This administration has previously invested over N4 billion in agricultural empowerment across all 178 wards of Yobe State, including tractors, fertilizer, and other productivity enhancing inputs to strengthen food security in the state.
