Yobe:Philanthropist Constructs Toilets to End Sanitation Struggles for 500 Almajirai

In an inspiring display of swift,community-driven action, philanthropist and development advocate Kashim Musa Tumsah (KMT) has transformed the Bututu Tsangaya Islamic School in Damaturu, Yobe State, completing three critical projects in just two weeks.  

The initiatives modern sanitation facilities, solar-powered lighting, and a revived cultural ceremony address urgent needs while setting a benchmark for rapid, sustainable development in the region.  

Responding swiftly to the school’s plea, KMT approved funding within 24 hours to construct modern toilet blocks, ending years of sanitation struggles for over 500 Almajiri and Modern Tsangaya students.

The director general,KMT development team KMTBOND Mr.Umar Aloma said the project aligns with broader efforts to improve hygiene education in Tsangaya schools, a need underscored by recent studies highlighting health risks in underserved educational institutions.  

According to him ,simultaneously, KMT’s team installed solar-powered streetlights across the campus, enhancing safety and enabling nighttime studies a first for the school.

 Aloma further revealed,this initiative dovetails with Tumsah’s statewide “Operation Light Up Yobe,”which has illuminated schools, markets, and public spaces, fostering safer environments and extended learning hours.  

He stated that,beyond infrastructure, KMT revived the school’s long-delayed Qur’anic graduation ceremony, sponsoring a vibrant event to honor students’ academic milestones. The celebration reinforced the cultural significance of Tsangaya education, blending tradition with modern development goals.

"Building on this success, plans to convert a borehole to solar power are underway, promising sustainable water access for the school. This aligns with Tumsah’s broader water initiatives targeting rural areas and complements Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration’s push for holistic development",Umar Aloma stated.
