Yobe,Jalayi Company organises mini trade fair to boost economy

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni inaugurated 1st Yobe Mini Trade Fair on Thursday,marking a significant step toward revitalizing commerce and entrepreneurship in the region.

The 30 day long mini trade fair event, held at the Ibrahim Gaidem modern Market in Damaturu, was organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Tourism, and Solid Minerals, in collaboration with Jalayi Traders Company.  

Under the theme,“Boosting Economic Activities through Modern Market Development," aims to empower local businesses, foster innovation, and stimulate economic growth. 

Governor Buni represented by the Commissioner Commerce ,Kaigama Umar,emphasized the state’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs during his keynote address, stating,

 “This platform will enable our businesses to showcase their products and services, unlock new opportunities, and contribute to community development".

Highlighting the fair’s broader significance, the governor noted that such initiatives bridge gaps between industrialists, policymakers, and innovators. “Trade fairs like this serve as critical hubs for sharing research, technologies, and ideas to drive socio-economic progress,” he added.

Earlier in his welcome address, the President of the Yobe State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, Aji Sulaiman, stated that the theme of this Mini Trade Fair, "Boosting the Economic Activities of Yobe State through Modern Market Development," is apt.  

Represented by the Director of Commerce, Mai Musa Kagu, Sulaiman explained that it clearly reflects the present administration’s vision, careful planning, and timely interventions, which have led to the development of modern markets and other critical business infrastructure across the state.  

He added,"By boosting economic activities, these modern markets the first of their kind in Nigeria are designed to accommodate all categories of businesses, irrespective of their type, size, or capital base."

The Mini Trade Fair features over 100 local exhibitors, ranging from agro-based enterprises to handicraft producers and tech startups.
