Yobe Police Rescue Abducted Girl, Arrest Two in Coordinated Anti-Kidnapping Operation

The Yobe State Police Command announced Thursday the successful rescue of a 22-year-old kidnapping victim and the arrest of two suspects linked to a brazen attack in Tashan Randa village, Fika Local Government Area (LGA). 

In a press statement by the police command public relations officer,SP Dungus Abdulkarim,said the operation conducted in collaboration with local hunters, marks another milestone in the Command’s intensified efforts to combat insecurity in the state.  

  

According to the statement,on May 6, 2025,at approximately 5:58 PM, armed assailants stormed the residence of Maikudi in Tashan Randa village, abducting his daughter and injuring a neighboring girl with gunfire.The attackers fled the scene, prompting an immediate response from the Fika Divisional Police Headquarters.  

The statement read a part ,"authorities swiftly launched an investigation, leveraging a ₦5,000,000 ransom demand to track the kidnappers.Through coordinated efforts with local hunters, security operatives raided the kidnappers’ hideout, rescuing the victim unharmed and dismantling the criminal network.  

"Two suspects were apprehended;Waiti Bello (30) of Jangalawaje Village and Idrissa Adamu (35) of Biriri Village, Gujba LGA. Both confessed to involvement in the crime and are aiding ongoing investigations.

" A Dane gun and motorcycle used in the operation were recovered. Additional syndicate members remain at large, with police intensifying efforts to apprehend them".

Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to eradicate violent crime."We remain steadfast in safeguarding our communities.This success underscores the importance of collaboration between security forces and citizens," he stated, urging residents to report suspicious activities.
