Yobe PDP Congress: Amb. El Gash Re-elected as State PDP Chairman

Ambassador Umar El Gash has been re-elected unopposed as the Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, following a successful congress held in Damaturu. 

He secured an impressive 1,605 votes out of 1,611 cast, as announced by the Chairman of the 2025 State PDP Electoral Committee, Hon. Mohammed Babayali Umar.

The election outcome demonstrates significant confidence from party members in El Gash's leadership.His victory complies with the legal requirements established by both the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the PDP's own governing documents.

Alongside Ambassador El Gash, new executive members were also sworn in by Barrister Hassan M. Grema, marking a renewed commitment to the party's objectives.

In his acceptance speech, El Gash expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming support he received, emphasizing his dedication to revitalizing the PDP as a "beacon of hope" for Nigerians. 

He recognized the loyalty and trust of the party members, attributing recent historic achievements including victories in the 2023 presidential elections and legislative representation to their collective efforts.

El Gash praised the acting national chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, for his unifying efforts within the party amid various challenges, asserting that the PDP is positioned as Nigeria’s primary opposition force against poor governance.

"The PDP is the party of the people.We are committed to uplifting marginalized communities, combating poverty, and ensuring inclusivity.We will strengthen our local structures, empower youth and women, and foster unity among diverse groups,"he said.

El-Gash  pledged to maintain fairness and open dialogue within the party, encouraging all members,old and new, young and experienced to unite towards building a prosperous Yobe State where "no one is left behind."

As the PDP gears up for future electoral challenges, El Gash's leadership will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the party’s strategies and objectives as it seeks to reclaim its position in Nigerian politics.
