Yobe Kicks Off Intensive Training Program for 450 New Teachers to Elevate Classroom Standards

Yobe State Government, in collaboration with Umar Sulaiman College of Education, Gashua,has inaugurated a two-day capacity-building workshop titled "From Classroom to Career: Essential Training for New Teachers in Yobe State."

The training commenced on Wednesday at the Arts and Cultural Auditorium Hall in Damaturu and aims to provide newly recruited teachers with essential skills to facilitate a smooth transition into their classroom roles.

Yobe State Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa, officially opened the workshop, stating that 450 new educators from three senatorial districts are participating in the initiative.

According to him,this effort comes amid ongoing challenges faced by educational institutions in the region, which have suffered significantly from insurgent attacks that destroyed school infrastructure and claimed the lives of students and teachers.

He noted that,Governor Mai Mala Buni approved the workshop as part of a broader strategy to enhance educational standards and support quality teaching at all levels.

"Participants will learn new methodologies for imparting knowledge and be equipped to contribute meaningfully to the education sector," he emphasized, urging attendees to actively engage in discussions and maximize their learning experience.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Danladi, Provost of Umar Sulaiman College of Education, expressed pride in the workshop's alignment with government efforts to improve education. 

He explained,the workshop covers vital topics for new teachers, including the evolving role of educators in the 21st century, effective lesson planning, classroom management strategies, and professional ethics in teaching. 

Dr Danladi urged participants to collaborate with master trainers and engage fully in the sessions, reinforcing the idea that effective teaching requires continuous development beyond just content delivery.
