Pictures:NEDC Builds the Capacity of 600 Teachers in Yobe

The North East Development Commission (NEDC), in collaboration with the Yobe State Government, commenced a five-day workshop on Monday for 600 teachers and administrators from basic and secondary schools across Yobe State.  

The training aims to enhance capacity for effective teaching and learning by leveraging modern techniques and the Science,Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Agriculture (STEMA) methodology in Yobe State and beyond.  

The Yobe State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education,Prof. Abba Idriss Adam, stated that the workshop would address key challenges in the education system while introducing modern,evidence based methodologies to empower teachers to adopt learner centered,inclusive, and technology driven approaches.

The Commissioner commended the NEDC’s efforts, emphasizing that the Commission has proven to be not only a development partner to the Yobe State Government but also a visionary catalyst in educational recovery and advancement in the North East region, particularly in Yobe State.  

In his welcome address,the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO)of the NEDC,Mohammed Goni Alkali, reiterated the Commission’s commitment to supporting the Yobe State Government and other states in the region.  

Represented by the NEDC State Coordinator, Prof. Ali Ibrahim Abbas,the MD explained,the 600 teachers would be trained across the state’s three senatorial zones, reinforcing the Commission’s efforts to complement the Yobe State Government’s initiatives in the education sector.  

The Lead Consultant from Xascony Engineering,Prof. Musa Alabe, urged participants to maximize the workshop’s opportunities, describing it as an investment in knowledge, capacity, and innovation. 

He assured attendees that competent resource persons had been provided to enhance their skills.  

This initiative underscores the NEDC’s commitment to strengthening educational capacity and improving instructional quality in basic and secondary schools to achieve better learning outcomes.
