APC Youth Warn Late Disqualification in Yobe Could Backfire on Tinubu
A coalition of Concerned Yobe State APC Youth Stakeholders has issued an urgent appeal to the party’s national leadership, warning that a last-minute disqualification of a senatorial aspirant could undermine President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election chances.
The group’s statement follows the disqualification of Alhaji Hassan Kafayos from Monday's Zone C Senatorial Primaries, describing the move as part of a “disturbing pattern” of late stage disqualifications in Yobe State.
The stakeholders argue the tactic risks alienating party supporters and hurting the APC’s electoral fortunes.
“This emerging strategy will have a major impact on the electoral fortunes of the APC in Yobe State and the re-election of our Mentor and Leader, His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” the appeal reads.
The group called on the party’s national leadership to “thread with caution,”warning against hasty decisions that could serve narrow interests seeking to impose unpopular candidates.
They urged party leaders to prioritize unity and reason to protect both the APC’s future and Nigeria’s hard-won democracy.
