"Always Engaged in Prayers for Peace", Gov Buni Meets 764 Imams Across Yobe's 17 LGAs

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Tuesday convened a high level meeting with 764 Friday Mosque Imams drawn from all 17 local government areas of the state.

The landmark gathering,which took place at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Damaturu, also had in attendance 24 prominent Islamic clerics, top government functionaries, and key officials of the ruling party. 

The event highlighted the administration’s commitment to integrating religious leadership into its governance framework.

Ahead of the closed door session, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Ustaz Babagana Mallam Kyari, briefed the gathering on the significance of the Imams' role in societal development.

Kyari described the spiritual leaders as frontline partners who consistently engage in prayers for the peace, security, and developmental progress of the state.

"This is a kind of gathering of people who always engage in prayers for peace and development of the state, highlighting the administration's recognition of the moral and spiritual authority wielded by the Imams across their respective communities",said Kyari

The meeting is widely seen as a proactive step by the Buni administration to leverage religious structures in tackling security challenges and fostering grassroots harmony.

The event marks one of the largest single gatherings of religious leaders in the state’s recent history, signaling a new chapter of institutional cooperation between the Yobe State Government and the clerical community.
